The Dallas Stars lost at home to the Phoenix Coyotes Tuesday night, 4-1.  It is the first loss to Phoenix at home for Dallas in regulation since December 26, 2010 (0-1 L).

Tuesday's game marks the first time Dallas has allowed Phoenix to score four or more goals since December 11, 2010 (2-5 L). It is also the first time either team has scored more than three goals since that date.  The Coyotes improved to 3-0-1 in their last four trips to Dallas.

The lone Dallas goal came on a wrist shot by Michael Ryder in the 2nd period, assisted by Philip Larsen.  Ryder's second period goal extended his team lead in goals to 19. Philip Larsen's assist gives him points in four of his last six games (1g, 3a, 4pts.).

Alex Goligoski attempted a season-high six shots against the Phoenix Coyotes tonight. It's the most shots he's had in a single game since March 29, 2011 when he registered a career-high nine shots (@ PHX).

Kari Lehtonen allowed four goals on 24 shots.  Lehtonen's record against the Phoenix Coyotes fell to 4-2-3. This was his first loss in regulation to Phoenix since December 26, 2010 (0-1 L).

The Stars went 0/4 on the power play, and have gone 3/11 in the last four games (27%).

Dallas will travel to Columbus tomorrow afternoon to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday night (6 pm CT, Fox Sports Southwest, Sports Radio 1310 The Ticket).

DALLAS, TX, February 6, 2012 -- Wayne Odesnik (USA) opens up Tuesday against American Brian Baker (USA). Action starts at 10:30am in the Pavilion located at T Bar M Racquet Club in Dallas, Texas.

Carsten Ball from Australia will take on Carlos Salamanca (COL) following the Odesnik/Baker match. Ball was one of the top seeds in the tournament two years ago when he made it to the semifinals.

The first official night session for the 2012 $100,000 YpChallenger of Dallas was a sure success. Robert Kendrick (USA) and Mark Knowles (BAH) defeated Sam Querrey (USA) and Chris Wettengel (USA) 7-5, 6-3 to begin the weeks night session. Tuesday is sure to offer any tennis fan a delicious treat for Tuesday's night session. American Jack Sock takes on unprecedented two time Challenger champion and #1 seed Robert Kendrick in the late afternoon hours. The night session begins at 6:30pm with recent Hawaii Challenger finalist Robby Ginepri and his partner Travis Rettenmaier, also of the United States. They are set to take on Americans Jesse Levine and Denis Kudla.

Following the explosive doubles match, Sam Querrey takes on Alex Kuznetsov. Both Americans are on the comeback trail. Sam Querrey's career high rank was #17, achieved on January 31, 2011. His height allows him to play with a strong serve and forehand. Querrey holds the record for most consecutive service aces since the ATP began keeping records of those statistics, with 10 in a 2007 match against James Blake.

Alex Kuznetsov is an American tennis player, accomplished in junior tennis. He moved from Ukraine to the US when he was 3 years old. Some consider him to be among the "next wave" of American tennis players, along with other young American players such as Sam Querrey, John Isner, Jesse Witten, Ryan Sweeting, and Jesse Levine.

Tuesday night's food will be provided by Palios Pizza and will showcase KSWISS as the featured brand of the evening.

Tickets to the event can be purchased online at www.ChallengerofDallas.com

SMU was never able to retake the lead down the stretch, with Tulane going 12-of-14 from the foul line in the last minute and a half. DALLAS, TX, February 5, 2012 -- The top seeds in both singles and doubles are loaded with talent and come from all across the globe.

Four out of eight seeded players at this year's tournament in the singles draw are from overseas. A further look will show that two out of the four seeded Americans listed on your draw sheet were born overseas. Top-seeded and two-time Challenger of Dallas Singles Champion Ryan Sweeting was born and grew up playing in the Bahamas before gaining US Citizenship while at college. The #5 seed Wayne Odesnik was born in South Africa and immigrated to Florida with his family at age 3. This means that only two seeded players were born in the United States, the defending Doubles Champion Rajeev Ram and former world #17 Sam Querrey.

The remaining top seeds in the singles draw began their tennis careers in countries oceans away. The #2 seed Steve "Shark" Darcis comes to us from Belgium where he achieved a career-high singles ranking of 44 in 2008. Fourth seeded Tobias Kamke was the 2010 ATP "Newcomer of the year" and continues the Challenger of Dallas' strong line of German players. The up and coming 21 year-old and #8 seed Ricardas Berankis is a Lithuanian sensation with junior Grand Slams under his belt and a close relationship with Roger Federer. All of 6'5" #6 seed Izak van der Merwe comes from South Africa where he saw his first action for South Africa's Davis Cup team in 2011.

There is plenty of talent outside of the top seeds, including 2011 US Open Mixed Doubles Champion Jack Sock, US Open semifinalist Robby Ginepri, and a Sportscenter Top 10 favorite Michael Yani.

The doubles draw has an international feel to it as well, as #4 seed Jack Sock and Nicholas Monroe are the only all US team seeded. Unseeded but perhaps the most dangerous team in the doubles draw is the pairing of crowd favorite Robert Kendrick and Mark Knowles. The Bahamian Knowles is a doubles assassin with championship wins at the US Open, French Open and Australian Open. Knowles aside from being a former #1 doubles player in the world is also a DFW area resident.

Matches get underway at 12:00 p.m. February 6th at T Bar M Racquet Club and will go well into the evening. Help this tournament become one of the best ever by showing up and cheering for your favorite players.

Tickets to the event can be purchased online at www.ChallengerofDallas.com

TCU Tennis Bounces Back With Win At Alabama PDF Print E-mail

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The TCU men's tennis team rebounded on the road to pick up a 4-3 win over No. 49 Alabama Sunday. With the win, the Horned Frogs advanced to 2-3 for the spring, while the Crimson Tide dropped to 1-3 overall.

"I am proud of the way our team came out ready to play today," TCU head coach David Roditi said. "That proved to me that we learned something last week in Georgia. Again, our freshmen continue to give us good play and they are gaining confidence. JT Sundling had an impressive win for us against a guy that beat us last year. Both of our wins are against teams that beat us last year."

Alabama came out of the gates with momentum in front of the home crowd, taking two of the three doubles matches to earn the early 1-0 advantage. After TCU dropped the first match on the middle court, the top duo of junior JT Sundling and freshman Nick Chappell evened the score with an 8-5 victory at the No. 1 court. In the end, 'Bama's third team took down the Frogs' pairing of Daniel Sanchez and Blake Wiggins, 8-4.

TCU took time to regroup during the intermission between doubles and singles. Sundling got the Purple and White on the scoreboard with a decisive 6-1, 6-1 victory from the No. 2 court. After the Tide jumped back on top with a win at the No. 5 position, Nick Chappell evened the team tally at 2-2 with a 6-4, 6-3 straight set victory over Jarryd Botha at the top court.

Newcomer Facundo Lugones picked up his second win in as many days with a 6-4, 6-4 outcome at the No.6 court, pushing TCU in front for good. Sanchez would clinch the team win for the Frogs at the No. 3 position, taking down No. 96 Vikram Reddy, 6-3, 6-4.

The Frogs will return home to the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center to host future Big 12 opponent Texas Tech on Feb. 11. Live music from Andrew Sullivan and free tacos courtesy of Salsa Limon begins at Noon. First serve for the match is set for 1 p.m.
